Eveline van Leeuwen (b. 1978) graduated in Land Use Planning (MSc) at the Wageningen University in 2002 and obtained a PhD in Economics at VU Amsterdam on the thesis entitled ”Towns today : Contemporary Functions of Small and Medium-sized Towns in the Rural Economy” in 2008. She is now affiliated to Wageningen University as professor and chairholder of the Urban Economics group.

Currently, Eveline and her group are working on how social and physical neighbourhood characteristics contribute to individual level decisions. They focus on sustainable energy consumption and the uptake of renewable energy, local participation and social networks, and healthy lifestyles. In addition, at the regional level, a project on the opportunities for regional food systems and the preferences of urban consumers started 2018.

Dr Bojie Fuis a distinguished professor of geography and landscape ecology at the State key Lab. of Urban and Regional Ecology, Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is Dean of Faculty of Geographical Science, Beijing Normal University. He is the member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the Academy of Sciences for Developing World(TWAS) andCorresponding Fellow of the Royal Society Edinburgh UK. He is President of the Geographical Society of China, Director-General of Department of Earth Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China and Director of Division of Geosciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research areas are land use and land cover change, landscape pattern and ecological processes, ecosystem services and management. He has published more than 400 scientific papers and 10 books, including Science, Nature Geoscience and Nature Climate change. His prizes include China National Natural Science Prize, Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize of CAS, The Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Prize-Geosciences, and Award of Distinguished Service of the International Association of Landscape Ecology.

Lucia Naldi is a Professor in Business Administration and Director of PhD candidates. She received her doctorate from JIBS and holds a M.Sc. from the University of Florence. Her main research and teaching are in the areas of entrepreneurship, international business and strategy.

Her research focuses on growth and internationalization of small and young firm. She is also interested in entrepreneurship in different contexts, including family firms, media firms, and firms located in rural areas. Lucia’s research has been published in several journal articles and book chapters. Lucia is affiliated with the Centre for Family Enterprise and Ownership (CeFEO), and the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Spatial Economics (CEnSE).

Professor Philip McCann is Professor of Urban and Regional Economics in the University of Sheffield Management School. Philip is also the Tagliaferri Research Fellow in the Department of Land Economy at the University of Cambridge 2015-2018 and Honorary Professor of Economic Geography in the Faculty of Spatial Sciences at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, 2017-2022.

Philip McCann is one of the world’s most highly cited and widely published spatial economists and economic geographers of his generation, with currently over 3500 ISI-Web of Science, over 4500 Scopus citations and some 12,400 Google Scholar citations, and he is the author of the internationally best-selling textbook in the field of Modern Urban and Regional Economics (OUP 2013). He has also been a Special Adviser to two European Commissioners, an advisor to the European Commission, the OECD, the European Investment Bank, as well as government ministries and research institutes in several countries.
